Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive project management experience, with 5+ years in building construction.
• Experience managing budgets from R20 million to R100 million.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, contract management.

About the Role

Our client, a distinguished developer and constructor of commercial and residential properties, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee significant construction projects in the Vereeniging, Gauteng area. This role is central to managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through to successful completion and handover. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, deliverables, budgets, and timelines for construction projects.
• Manage all phases of the construction lifecycle, including site assessment, design coordination, procurement, construction execution, and project closeout.
• Oversee project budgets, track expenditures, manage contracts, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
• Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing proactive strategies to address potential challenges.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards on construction sites.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing progress updates and addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
• Prepare detailed project reports, including status updates, financial summaries, and risk assessments for senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• A relevant professional certification (e.g., PMP, SACPCMP) is highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant portion (at least 5 years) focused on managing building construction projects.
• Demonstrated experience in managing budgets for projects ranging from R20 million to R100 million.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, scheduling, and contract management.
• Proven leadership abilities with experience managing diverse teams and subcontractors effectively.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Buildertrend) and relevant construction management tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Vereeniging area and be available for on-site project supervision.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in South Africa.
