Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a reputable property development firm, is seeking a highly experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of major commercial development projects. This role involves managing all aspects of the construction process, from initial planning and design coordination through to final completion and handover. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of construction methodologies, site management, budget control, and stakeholder coordination within the commercial sector. This is a key leadership position, critical for the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-profile projects in the Centurion, Gauteng region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all phases of construction projects, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, budget, and schedule requirements.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project plans are executed efficiently.
• Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and construction budgets, and actively monitor progress against these.
• Oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Manage procurement processes, including tendering, contract negotiation, and vendor performance evaluation.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to identify and resolve issues proactively.
• Manage project risks, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders, including clients and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure accurate project documentation, including progress reports, financial statements, and close-out documentation.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on commercial developments.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget.
• In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and contract management.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and BIM tools is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; professional registration (e.g., Pr. Eng, Pr. Arch) is highly desirable.
• Excellent ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex project dynamics.
• Experience in dispute resolution and claims management.
• Must be willing to work on-site regularly in the Centurion, Gauteng area.
