Job summary

Placements24 in Klerksdorp, North West, seeks a dedicated Youth Mentor and Development Officer to guide and support young people in personal growth and career readiness. This hands-on role involves in-person work with youth and families across local schools and community centers.

You will design and implement life skills programs, mentor individuals, and run workshops to empower youth for education and job opportunities within the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Youth Development, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience working directly with youth in mentoring, coaching, or developmental capacity.
• Proven ability to connect with and motivate youth from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
• Experience in program planning and facilitation.
• Strong understanding of adolescent development and challenges faced by youth.
• Knowledge of local youth services and resources in Klerksdorp, North West.
• Ability to work independently and manage program activities effectively.
• Comfortable working in community settings and schools with youth.
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle for community work.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging programs focused on youth life skills, leadership, and personal development.
• Provide one-on-one mentoring and counseling to young people, addressing individual needs and aspirations.
• Organize and facilitate group activities, workshops, and educational sessions for youth.
• Connect youth with educational opportunities, vocational training, and employment pathways.
• Collaborate with schools, parents, and community organizations to support youth engagement and success.
• Monitor youth progress, provide feedback, and celebrate achievements.
• Act as a positive role model, demonstrating ethical behavior and strong communication skills.
• Assist in conflict resolution and provide guidance during challenging situations faced by youth.
• Maintain accurate records of mentees’ progress and program participation.
• Contribute to program evaluation and development based on youth feedback and outcomes.
