Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dynamic Community Organizer to lead local development initiatives in Mahikeng, North West. You will engage residents, identify community needs, mobilize resources, and foster collaborative projects that advance social and economic outcomes, acting as a bridge between communities and authorities.

The role requires strong communication and leadership to build consensus and drive action across diverse groups in the Mahikeng area and broader North West region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in community organizing or development.
• Experience with participatory planning and project coordination in North West.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to travel within the Mahikeng area.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders.
• Conduct community needs assessments and facilitate participatory planning.
• Mobilize residents to participate in development projects and local governance.
• Organize community meetings, workshops, and events to foster dialogue and action.
• Facilitate formation of community groups and committees to address local issues.
• Identify funding opportunities and assist in developing proposals.
• Coordinate implementation of projects and ensure efficient use of resources.
• Liaise with local government and organizations to advocate for needs and access resources.
• Provide training and capacity building on leadership, advocacy, and project management.
• Document progress and prepare reports for stakeholders.
