Job summary

Placements24 seeks a committed Social Development Officer to join the team in Mahikeng to enhance community life through needs assessment and development programs. You will collaborate with local government, NGOs, and community members to build social cohesion and economic empowerment.

Role focuses on capacity-building and sustainable development, coordinating multi-stakeholder projects, and addressing social challenges with effective program management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in social development, community work, or project management.
• Strong understanding of development principles and poverty alleviation strategies.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with the social landscape of Mahikeng and the North West region.

Responsibilities

• Conduct community needs assessments and socio-economic surveys.
• Develop, implement, and monitor social development projects and programs.
• Facilitate community participation and engagement in development initiatives.
• Coordinate with government departments, NGOs, and other partners to leverage resources.
• Provide support and guidance to community groups and emerging organizations.
• Prepare project proposals, reports, and budgets.
