Job summary

Protea Hotels by Marriott® is looking for a dedicated Kitchen Associate to join our Summit Place Precinct kitchen in Pretoria. You will prepare ingredients, portion and store food, and assist with cooking according to recipes, quality standards and checklists.

You will operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers, monitor quality, maintain a clean work station, and follow all safety policies. The role requires punctuality, teamwork and professional communication in a fast-paced hotel

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food.
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables; weigh and measure ingredients.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards and checklists.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers; test for doneness.
• Monitor food quality during preparation; set up and break down work station.
• Follow safety and security policies; maintain clean work environment and professional appearance.
