Placements24 is seeking an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Engineer to service the Polokwane region in Limpopo. You will install, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration systems for supermarkets, restaurants, and cold storage facilities, working independently in a field-based role.

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of hands-on experience, strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles and electrical control systems, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Trade certification in refrigeration (F-Gas preferred).
• Minimum of 4 years' hands-on experience with commercial refrigeration systems.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration units, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and ice machines.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system malfunctions, including issues with compressors, condensers, evaporators, and expansion valves.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance and longevity.
• Read and interpret refrigeration system schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines.
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide prompt, effective solutions.
• Educate clients on proper system operation and basic maintenance.

Requirements

• Qualified Refrigeration Technician with a relevant trade certification (e.g., F-Gas certification, trade diploma).

• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical control systems associated with refrigeration units.
• Experience with various refrigerants and associated handling procedures.
