Placements24 is seeking an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Technician to join our maintenance team in Stellenbosch and surrounding areas. You will install, service, and repair commercial refrigeration units for clients in supermarkets, restaurants, and food plants, ensuring food safety and business continuity.

The role requires deep knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical components, and control systems, with a focus on reliable, safe, and efficient on-site service.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Commercial Refrigeration Technician.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical components, and control systems.
• Proficiency in handling refrigerants and operating specialized diagnostic tools.
• Relevant trade certifications or licenses are highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair commercial refrigeration units, including walk-in coolers, freezers, and display cases.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to optimize system performance and prevent costly breakdowns.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system issues, including refrigerant leaks and electrical faults.
• Interpret schematics and technical manuals to guide repair and installation processes.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards related to refrigerant handling.
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls to minimize downtime for clients.
