• Oversee preventative maintenance programs for refrigeration equipment and cold store facilities.
• Monitor cold store performance, investigate deviations, and elevate issues as required.
• Lead and develop the cold store team.
• Ensure adherence to safety and food safety procedures.

COLD STORE MANAGER

Fruitways is a leading agri‑business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be based at our Facilities in the Villiersdorp area.

The position requires a proactive and well‑organized individual who will ensure the effective and efficient management of cold store operations and maintaining storage protocols.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage cold store operations to maintain accurate inventory control (receiving, storage and dispatch of bulk bins).
• Ensure all fruit is handled and stored in accordance with provided RA and CA storage protocols.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programs for refrigeration equipment and cold store facilities.
• Monitor cold store performance, investigate any deviations and elevate issues to QA and Engineering as required.
• Lead and develop the cold store team.
• Ensure correct working methods and procedures are adhered to with regards to personnel safety and food safety (OHS & BRC).

Requirements

• Matric/Grade 12/NQF4 required, refrigeration certificate preferred.
• 5‑8 Years’ experience in cold store operations and/or refrigeration environment.
• Understanding of CA Management within the pome industry.
• Good communication skills, judgement and decision‑making ability.
