Job summary

Exceed Human Resource Consultants is seeking a seasoned Cold Store Manager to oversee daily operations, ensuring safe storage, accurate stock control and efficient dispatch of chilled and frozen products in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You will lead a team, manage FIFO/FEFO processes, monitor temperatures and ensure HACCP compliance, while liaising with multiple departments to meet dispatch deadlines.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) is required.
• Diploma or Certificate in Cold Chain Management/Logistics or Food Safety is advantageous.
• 3–5 years' cold store management experience in FMCG/meat processing.
• Meat-Matrix experience is essential.
• HACCP, cold chain, meat handling and stock control knowledge.
• Strong leadership and people management abilities.
• Proficiency in Excel and OMS systems.
• Ability to work in cold environments and overtime when needed.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport; forklift licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day cold store operations, ensuring safe storage, stock control and efficient dispatch.
• Manage receiving, stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), picking, dispatch and stock takes using Meat-Matrix.
• Monitor temperatures; ensure HACCP, food safety, PPE and SOP compliance.
• Lead, train and supervise the cold store team including forklift operators and loaders.
• Liaise with dispatch, production, telesales and QA teams for timely deliveries.
• Monitor variances, equipment maintenance and load planning to maximise efficiency and minimise loss.

Job Description

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the cold store, ensuring the safe storage, stock control, and efficient dispatch of chilled and frozen products.
• Manage receiving, stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), picking, dispatch, and regular stock takes while maintaining accurate inventory records using Meat-Matrix.
• Monitor cold room temperatures, ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety standards, PPE requirements, and company SOPs.
• Lead, train, and supervise the cold store team, including forklift operators and loaders, while managing staff performance, attendance, and scheduling.
• Liaise with dispatch, production, telesales, and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
• Monitor stock variances, equipment maintenance, and load planning to maximise efficiency and minimise product loss.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12); Diploma or Certificate in Cold Chain Management, Logistics, or Food Safety advantageous.
• Minimum of 3–5 years' experience managing a cold store within an FMCG or meat processing environment.
• Experience with Meat-Matrix is essential.
• Knowledge of HACCP, cold chain management, meat handling, and stock control processes.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and people management skills.
• Computer literate with proficiency in Excel and OMS systems.
• Ability to work in cold environments and overtime when operationally required.
