About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of temperature-controlled logistics solutions for the pharmaceutical and food industries, is seeking a dedicated Cold Chain Logistics Specialist to join their team.

This vital role will be based in Polokwane, Limpopo, with a hybrid work arrangement, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of temperature-sensitive supply chains.

The Specialist will be responsible for monitoring, managing, and optimizing all aspects of cold chain operations, including warehousing, transportation, and compliance with strict regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of temperature-controlled environments, advanced logistics planning, and a commitment to maintaining product quality and safety. This is an excellent opportunity to specialize in a critical and growing sector of the logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor temperature-controlled warehousing operations to ensure product integrity.
• Plan and coordinate the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods, selecting appropriate modes and carriers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards governing cold chain logistics (e.g., GDP, HACCP).
• Utilize cold chain monitoring technology and data analysis to track temperature excursions and implement preventative measures.
• Collaborate with clients, carriers, and internal teams to resolve any issues related to temperature control or product handling.
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cold chain operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for potential temperature deviations or disruptions.
• Maintain accurate records of temperature logs, shipment details, and compliance documentation.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and technological advancements in cold chain logistics.
• Assist in the training of personnel involved in cold chain handling and transport.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience specifically within cold chain logistics or temperature-controlled supply chains.
• In-depth knowledge of temperature-controlled warehousing and transportation requirements.
• Understanding of regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical and/or food industries (e.g., Good Distribution Practices - GDP).
• Proficiency in using logistics software, temperature monitoring systems, and MS Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid model, with a mix of office-based and remote responsibilities.
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to Polokwane, Limpopo.
