CMDB Manager: ServiceNow & ITIL Governance Lead

Job summary

Hire Resolve is seeking a CMDB Manager to maintain the accuracy and completeness of the CMDB within ServiceNow for a multinational manufacturing holding company, with operations in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban-based offices.

You will lead a team of asset technicians, ensure CMDB governance, and drive discovery, service mapping, audits and dashboards to improve IT service management alignment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience directly managing CMDB in ServiceNow within large, complex environments.
• Strong working knowledge of ServiceNow modules (ITSM, ITOM, and ITAM), including hardware/software lifecycle management, Discovery and Service Mapping.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• ITIL v4 Foundations (required).
• ServiceNow CIS – CMDB or Discovery (required).
• Experience with SCCM, Intune, SolarWinds or similar monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of asset technicians with performance reviews and talent development.
• Lead governance forums and workshops to drive CMDB adoption, maturity, and ITIL alignment.
• Partner with ITSM/ITOM/ITAM teams to align CMDB data with service management processes.
• Monitor CMDB health metrics, resolve data discrepancies and manage CI lifecycle processes.
• Oversee discovery, reconciliation, and integration activities to ensure accurate CI population.
• Drive discovery and service mapping initiatives to align infrastructure with business services.
• Conduct audits, data certification activities, and gap analyses to remediate data quality.
• Design and maintain dashboards to track CMDB compliance, health, and impact.
• Stay current with ServiceNow releases and champion automation to improve CMDB efficiency.
