Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance claims handling.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of claims handlers, providing guidance, motivation, and performance management.
• Ensure timely and accurate assessment and settlement of insurance claims in line with policy terms and conditions.
• Monitor team performance against KPIs and SLAs.
• Handle escalated customer complaints and complex claims issues, providing effective resolutions.
• Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance, share updates, and address challenges.
• Identify training needs within the team and facilitate development opportunities.
• Collaborate with underwriting and legal to ensure seamless claims processing.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance products, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Implement and promote best practices in customer service and claims handling within the team.

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification or industry-specific certifications (e.g., FAIS, NQF Level 5).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance claims handling, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing and motivating a team to achieve performance targets.
• In-depth understanding of various insurance products and claims procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing office-based and remote responsibilities.
• Knowledge of the regulatory landscape governing insurance in South Africa is essential.
