About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Claims Handler specializing in Short-Term Insurance to join their established team in Richards Bay . This role is crucial for managing the end-to-end claims process for clients, ensuring efficient and fair resolution of their insurance needs. You will be the primary point of contact for policyholders during their time of need, providing support, guidance, and clear communication throughout the claims journey. This position offers the chance to become a key player within a respected insurance company operating in the scenic coastal region of KwaZulu-Natal .

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, register, and acknowledge new insurance claims promptly and accurately.
• Investigate claims by gathering necessary documentation, statements, and evidence.
• Assess policy coverage, liability, and the quantum of loss in line with policy terms and conditions.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders or their representatives fairly and efficiently.
• Appoint and manage external service providers such as loss adjusters and repairers where necessary.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all claims activity on the claims management system.

Requirements

• Proven experience in handling short-term insurance claims (e.g., motor, household, commercial).
• Solid understanding of the insurance claims process, policy wordings, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage a caseload effectively.
• Proficiency in claims management software and standard office productivity tools.
• A relevant qualification in Insurance or Risk Management is preferred.
