Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years’ civil engineering draughting experience.
• Experience in roads and transportation infrastructure draughting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Understanding of civil engineering drawing principles and construction documentation.
• Ability to interpret designs and coordinate with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop detailed civil drawings in line with project requirements and standards.
• Produce drawings for urban roads, rural roads, freeways and related infrastructure.
• Assist with geometric road design drawings, including alignments, cross-sections and profiles.
• Prepare stormwater drainage and related civil infrastructure drawings.
• Develop drawings for intersections, access roads and road infrastructure.
• Maintain drawing records, revisions and document control, and assist with as-built drawings.

BVi Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for two (2) Civil Draughtspersons in their Cape Town office. This will be permanent positions.

The positions are for providing high-quality civil engineering draughting and design support to the Senior Design Professional and design team, with a particular focus on roads, geometric design, stormwater infrastructure and associated transportation works.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and develop detailed civil engineering drawings in accordance with project requirements and relevant standards.
• Produce drawings for urban roads, rural roads, freeways and associated infrastructure.
• Assist with the preparation of geometric road design drawings, including road alignments, cross-sections, profiles and associated details.
• Prepare stormwater drainage and related civil infrastructure drawings.
• Develop drawings for intersections, access roads, traffic circles and associated road infrastructure.
• Prepare detailed construction drawings, including plans, profiles, sections and construction details.
• Incorporate design information and engineering calculations into detailed drawings.
• Assist with revisions and updates to drawings throughout the various stages of a project.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated and compliant with project standards and drawing protocols.
• Assist with the preparation of quantities and supporting information where required.
• Liaise with the Associate, Engineers, Technologists and other project team members to ensure that drawings accurately reflect the design intent.
• Maintain proper drawing records, revisions and document control.
• Assist with the preparation of as-built drawings where required.
• Identify drawing discrepancies, clashes or technical issues and raise these with the relevant project team members.
• Work within agreed project programmes and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of technical accuracy.

Key Requirements:

• Grade 12.
• National Certificate/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Draughting or a related qualification will be advantageous.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant civil engineering draughting experience.
• Proven experience in a consulting engineering environment will be advantageous.
• Experience in roads and transportation infrastructure draughting will be highly advantageous.
• Good understanding of civil engineering drawing principles and construction documentation.
• Experience with geometric road design and/or stormwater infrastructure will be advantageous.
• Proficiency in relevant Autodesk and/or Bentley civil engineering design software.
• Ability to interpret engineering designs, drawings and technical information.
