Job summary

MSP Staffing Pty is seeking an experienced Senior Draughtsperson / Civil Modeller to join its Head Office in Johannesburg. The role focuses on producing high-quality 2D drawings and 3D civil models, aligned with BIM workflows, for infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of draughting experience, strong Autodesk skills (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) and a solid grasp of drafting standards and project documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification in MDDOP or Civil/Structural Eng.
• 5–10 years' experience as a Draughtsperson in civil or infrastructure projects.
• Strong skill in producing civil drawings (pipelines, roads, pump stations).
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit and/or Inventor.
• Clear understanding of drafting standards and documentation.
• Ability to interpret sketches and specifications accurately.

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Draughtsperson / Civil Modeller to join its Head Office in Johannesburg. This opportunity is suited to a motivated professional with strong civil infrastructure drafting and modelling expertise who is passionate about producing high-quality engineering deliverables while contributing to modern digital design and BIM-aligned workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D civil models using Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit and other Autodesk software where applicable.
• Prepare construction-ready drawings from conceptual designs, engineering mark‑ups and technical specifications.
• Develop digital terrain models, alignments, corridors, pipe networks and quantity take‑offs.
• Maintain drawing quality, revision control and compliance with internal drafting and BIM standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, technologists, project managers and fellow modellers to deliver coordinated project documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support knowledge sharing and contribute to the development of team capabilities.
• Maintain professional communication and high ethical standards throughout project delivery.

Minimum Requirements

• National Certificate or Diploma in Multi-disciplinary Drawing Office Practice (MDDOP), Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 5–10 years' experience as a Draughtsperson within civil engineering, structural engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience preparing civil engineering drawings, including pipelines, roads, pump stations, reservoirs and water treatment works.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and/or Inventor.
• Excellent understanding of engineering documentation, drafting standards and drawing office procedures.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, technical information and design specifications accurately.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Advantageous Experience

• Knowledge of BIM methodologies and ISO 19650 information management principles.
• Experience with Autodesk Forma and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC Docs).
• Exposure to multidisciplinary civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience using InfraWorks, Navisworks, Plant 3D, Inventor or Revit.
