Qualifications

• B.Eng or BScEng in Civil Engineering is required.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• 8–10 years of post-graduate structural engineering experience.
• Experience with GCC/JBCC/NEC3/PROCSA contracts and claims.
• Strong report writing and client liaison skills.
• Extensive contract and project management experience is advantageous.
• Pro-active, self-starter, with strong leadership and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Part of an existing structural design office in Cape Town.
• Plan, identify and design structural infrastructure.
• Prepare reports for all project stages from inception to close-out.
• Manage contracts and project progress, liaise with clients and contractors.
• Supervise juniors and oversee drawings, designs and reports.
• Prepare tender docs, specifications, BOQ and drawings.

Overview

BVi Consulting Engineers Western Cape (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for a Professional Structural Engineer in their Cape Town office.

Responsibilities

• Form part of an existing structural engineering design office.
• Planning, identifying, and designing structural-related infrastructure.
• Preparation of reports for all stages of project implementation, including inception, feasibility/business plans, concept and viability, design development, tender and procurement, close-out, etc.
• Overall contract/project management, including interaction with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, attendance at progress meetings, preparation of payment certificates, dealing with contractual claims, etc.
• Manage junior staff, including supervision of drawings, designs, reports, etc.
• Preparation of tender documentation, including specification writing, bill of quantities and drawings.
• General client liaison and marketing.

Qualifications

• Must have B.Eng or BSc. Eng degree in Civil Engineering
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with ECSA, non-negotiable
• Minimum of 8–10 years of post-graduate relevant experience in the structural engineering environment.
• Experience in managing GCC-, JBCC-, NEC3- & PROCSA contracts and dealing with claims.
• Experience in compiling reports for all stages of project implementation and good report writing skills.
• Extensive Contract and Project Management experience is advantageous.
• Experience in liaising with Clients, Contractors and various Stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Must have a pro-active and self-starter approach.
• Strong teamwork skills required.
• Proficient in English reading and writing.
• Work well under pressure
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must have proficient experience with the following Computer Software Programs:
  • AutoCAD
  • Civil3D
  • Prokon
  • MS Office Suite
