Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Chief Surveyor to oversee all survey operations at its Port Elizabeth mining sites. You will lead a team of surveyors, implement advanced surveying technologies, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of spatial data for mine planning, resource management, and regulatory compliance.

This role combines remote work with essential on-site supervision and quality control, requiring strong leadership, geodetic expertise, and a focus on safety and data standards to drive

Qualifications

PLS certification or equivalent required.
Minimum 10 years in mine surveying, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson Survey; strong geodetic knowledge.

Responsibilities

Direct all survey activities for mining operations.
Implement GPS, total stations, and laser scanning.
Ensure accuracy of survey data, drawings, and reports.
Develop and enforce survey standards, procedures, and safety protocols.
Train and mentor the survey team.
Collaborate with planning, engineering, and geology for spatial data.
