Responsibilities

  • Direct all mine surveying activities (boundary, topographic, control surveys)
  • Ensure survey data accuracy for planning, design and construction

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly competent Chief Surveyor to oversee all surveying operations at their mining site near Centurion . This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all spatial data, from exploration stages through to mine closure. You will manage a team of surveyors, implement advanced surveying technologies, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Your expertise will be critical in providing precise positional control for all mining activities, geotechnical assessments, and environmental monitoring, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the mining operation. This is a hands‑on leadership position requiring meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct all mine surveying activities, including boundary, topographical, and control surveys.
  • Ensure the accuracy of survey data used for mine planning, design, and construction.
  • Operate and maintain advanced surveying equipment, including GPS, total stations, and laser scanners.
  • Process and interpret survey data, creating accurate maps and models.
  • Develop and implement survey quality control procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of survey technicians and junior surveyors.
Requirements
  • National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying or Geomatics.
