Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a premier aviation operator, invites applications for a Chief Pilot based in Centurion, Gauteng. The role combines hands-on flight duties with remote strategic planning, overseeing flight operations and ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency.

You will lead a team of pilots, develop procedures, liaise with aviation authorities, and drive a culture of safety. Candidates must have ATPL, type ratings, 10,000+ hours, and proven leadership in flight

Qualifications

• ATPL with appropriate type ratings for company fleet.
• Minimum of 10,000 flight hours, with significant command in multi‑engine aircraft.
• Experience in a management or supervisory pilot role.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of flight operations.
• Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and company procedures.
• Develop and maintain Operations Manual and other docs.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and development of flight crew.
• Manage flight scheduling, rostering and duty time limits.
• Conduct safety investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Act as liaison with aviation authorities.
• Maintain fleet readiness and safe, efficient operations.
• Promote safety culture among flight personnel.
• Serve as instructor pilot and check airman as required.
