Placements24 seeks a Senior Flight Operations Officer for its Durban operations centre in KwaZulu-Natal. The role leads flight planning, monitoring, and coordination with crews, ATC and stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient operations in a fast-paced aviation environment.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in flight operations, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in flight operations management within an airline environment.
• Thorough knowledge of flight planning, meteorology, navigation and ATC procedures.
• Familiarity with ICAO, SACAA regulations and safety standards.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving under pressure.
• Excellent communication with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate flight schedules ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Monitor flight progress and weather, adjusting as needed for safety and efficiency.
• Liaise with flight crews, ATC and stakeholders to manage operations.
• Prepare and disseminate NOTAMs, flight plans and watches.
• Manage IROPS during diversions and delays with timely communication.
• Ensure adherence to policies, procedures and aviation standards.
• Train and mentor junior officers in best practices.
• Contribute to SMS activities and risk assessments.
• Develop and review operational manuals and procedures.
