Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Research and Development Engineer in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role focuses on discovery, development, and scale-up of novel chemical products and processes, with a hybrid work arrangement blending lab and remote sessions.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master's or PhD in a related field, with 5+ years in chemical R&D or scale-up, strong laboratory expertise, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical R&D, product development, or process scale-up.
• Proven laboratory skills, including synthesis, characterization, and analytical techniques.
• Experience with pilot plant operations and scale-up principles.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in team and remote collaboration.
• Knowledge of IP and patent processes advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop new chemical products and improve formulations.
• Design and run experiments, pilot plant trials, and scale-up studies.
• Analyze data, document findings.
