Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Chemical Plant Engineer for reliability and maintenance in Centurion, Gauteng. The role focuses on proactive maintenance strategies, RCFA analysis, and reducing downtime to ensure optimal plant performance and safety.

You will work with operations and engineering teams to integrate maintenance with production schedules, driving efficiency and reliability in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years in plant maintenance or reliability within the chemical industry.
• Proficiency in reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
• Experience with CMMS software.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, reactors.
• Knowledge of process safety management (PSM) standards.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced plant environment.
• Project management skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs for plant equipment.
• Conduct RCFA on failures and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment performance using diagnostic tools.
• Oversee maintenance activities, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Maintain records of maintenance, equipment history, and spare parts.
• Collaborate with engineering on upgrades and new installations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Manage external contractors involved in maintenance activities.
• Analyze maintenance costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Provide technical support to maintenance technicians and operators.
