Placements24 is seeking a Catering Team Lead for an events venue in Vereeniging, Gauteng. The role involves hands-on leadership to oversee catering operations during events, ensuring guest satisfaction and high service standards.

You will manage setup, service, and breakdown of catering activities, train staff on protocols, and coordinate with kitchen and event managers to deliver seamless experiences for clients. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role within catering or hospitality.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong understanding of food and beverage service standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a food service environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the catering team during event service, ensuring efficient and effective delivery.
• Oversee the setup of dining areas, buffets, and beverage stations according to event specifications.
• Manage food and beverage service, ensuring quality, presentation, and timeliness.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and hygiene standards throughout the event.
• Train and guide catering staff on service protocols, menu details, and guest interaction.
• Act as a point of contact for clients during events, addressing any immediate needs or concerns.
• Manage inventory of service equipment and supplies, reporting any shortages or damages.
• Supervise the breakdown and cleaning of catering areas post-event.
• Collaborate with the catering manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide feedback on staff performance and identify training needs.
