Job summary

City of Ekurhuleni is seeking a Dispatcher for Bus Services Operations at depots TRFL19789. The role ensures timely dispatch of buses, coordinates driver shifts and special hires, and checks that buses are ready for departures.

You will oversee bus availability, arrange replacements for breakdowns, ensure buses are clean on departure, and supervise security on duty, reporting to the senior operations officer. A permanent position within Roads and Transport Management.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 as minimum qualification.
• Valid code C, EC or EC1 (04) with PrDP.
• Communication and interpersonal skills required.
• 3 years in Bus Services Operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Despatch buses to ensure timely service execution and ensure drivers report for duty on time.
• Communicate shift instructions to bus drivers and manage special hire trips.
• Verify bus despatch boards are correct as buses depart the depot.
• Manage bus availability for all services, book buses on return from trips, arrange replacements for breakdowns.
• Ensure buses are clean on departure and assist with inspections on return to detect damages.
• Oversee security guards and report issues to the senior operations officer.
