Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Building Systems Maintenance Technician to oversee the operational integrity of commercial properties in Paarl, Western Cape. You will maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems, perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and execute timely repairs to minimize disruptions.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in maintenance, reads blueprints, and can troubleshoot complex systems while communicating with tenants and contractors.

Qualifications

• Commercial/industrial maintenance experience required.
• 3+ years in maintenance technician role.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Reading manuals, blueprints and schematics.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Driver's license and reliable transport.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues promptly.
• Respond to tenant maintenance requests and service calls.
• Inspect systems and infrastructure to identify problems.
• Maintain and repair building amenities and common areas.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized work.
• Ensure compliance with codes, safety and environmental standards.
• Keep records of maintenance activities, repairs and parts.
• Assist with energy efficiency measures and safe working environment.
