Job summary

SMEC in Durban is seeking a senior Draughtsperson to lead complex design modelling, drafting and BIM implementation for water infrastructure projects. You will standardise drawings, develop Autodesk templates, and mentor junior staff, while coordinating multi-disciplinary work to ensure client satisfaction and high quality deliverables.

The role requires extensive experience with Revit, Civil 3D and QGIS, plus ACC/BIM360 and ProjectWise proficiency, and a strong focus on delivering practical

Qualifications

• Professional Autodesk Draughting registration (Civil, bulk water & sewer).
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in a similar position.
• Experience in water infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in Revit, Civil 3D and QGIS; ACC/BIM360 and ProjectWise proficiency.
• LOD 400-500 modelling and detailing.

Responsibilities

• 3D modelling, detailing and quality audits on drawings/models.
• BIM implementation.
• Standardisation of drawings across projects.
• Develop Autodesk templates and libraries, tools processes to maintain standards.
• Mentor, train and provide technical support to junior staff.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary work and project delivery.
