Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Compliance Officer to join our banking operations team in Mossel Bay. You will develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs, ensuring adherence to SA banking regulations and internal policies.

This hybrid role involves risk assessments, training staff, coordinating with regulators and auditors, and guiding the organization through regulatory changes to protect the bank's integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in banking compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related legal field.
• In-depth knowledge of South African banking regulations, AML/CFT, and KYC requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in risk management and internal controls within a financial institution.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance programs and policies aligned with current banking regulations.
• Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance breaches and areas for improvement.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update internal procedures accordingly to ensure ongoing adherence.
• Investigate potential compliance violations and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance-related matters and best practices.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors as required.
