Job summary

RecruitMyMom is seeking an energetic External Sales Representative to cover the Gauteng region, including Roodepoort. This full-time role offers a monthly salary of R20 000 plus commission, with a car allowance or company vehicle, petrol card, company cellphone and a tablet.

You will build trade relationships across premium decor and finishes networks, convert leads into long-term accounts, and travel daily within the territory.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description

An established market leader in premium interior decor and architectural finishes is seeking an energetic, driven External Sales Representative to join their field sales operations. Covering the wider Gauteng territory, this is a permanent, full-time role offering a balanced Monday to Thursday schedule (08:00 – 16:30) with an early finish every Friday at 15:30. Candidates from designated Employment Equity (EE) groups will be prioritized in line with company equity transformation objectives.

You will champion a diverse portfolio of contemporary decorative profiles, wall finishes, trims, and architectural accessories across leading retail, DIY, and building merchant networks.

Key Responsibilities

• New Account Acquisition: Proactively prospect for new commercial and retail trade accounts while actively following up on inbound digital and marketing campaign inquiries to close profitable deals.
• Field Visits & Route Cycles: Maintain an active, structured weekly call cycle across designated retail stores, merchant branches, and commercial trade clients.
• In-Store Staff Development: Deliver regular, practical product feature sessions and upselling workshops for store staff, floor consultants, and department supervisors.
• Brand Merchandising: Maintain first-class display stands, product boards, and point-of-sale materials across all allocated retail outlets.
• Deal Closing & Quotations: Generate precise customer quotations, conduct swift turnaround follow-ups, and ensure transactions protect company margin thresholds.
• Territory Reporting & CRM: Keep sales pipelines, client visit logs, and field activity consistently updated on internal systems.
• Commercial Promotions: Assist with client presentations, branch trade mornings, product showcases, and seasonal promotional campaigns when required.

Requirements

• Sales Track Record: 2–3+ years of proven external/field sales experience within building supplies, hardware, DIY retail, decorative materials, timber, or related architectural finish sectors.
• Mobility: Valid driver’s license (essential) and full flexibility to travel daily throughout the allocated territory.
• Deal Maker Mindset: Self-motivated hunter with excellent interpersonal rapport and a consistent track record of closing commercial sales.
• Digital Fluency: Comfortable with sales tracking tools, CRM environments, and standard MS Office applications.
• Presentation Skills: Articulate communicator able to talk comfortably with buyers and conduct engaging product demonstrations for retail staff.
