About the Role

Our client, a specialized automotive performance tuning company based near Rustenburg , North West, is seeking a highly motivated and expert Automotive Performance Engineer. This role focuses on the intricate art and science of engine tuning and calibration for a variety of high-performance vehicles. You will be responsible for optimizing engine parameters to enhance power, efficiency, and drivability, working with both standard and modified vehicles. This position requires a deep understanding of internal combustion engines, ECU reprogramming, and data acquisition. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with a passion for automotive performance and a meticulous approach to calibration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ECU tuning strategies for various vehicle platforms.
• Conduct dynamometer testing (dyno tuning) to measure and optimize engine performance.
• Analyze engine data logs to identify performance trends and areas for improvement.
• Calibrate fuel delivery, ignition timing, boost control, and other engine management parameters.
• Work with standalone engine management systems as well as factory ECU remapping.
• Collaborate with mechanical technicians to ensure proper hardware installation and compatibility.
• Troubleshoot engine performance issues and implement effective solutions.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in engine technology, tuning software, and hardware.

Requirements

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

• In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engine theory and operation.
