Job summary

Clicks Group in Johannesburg invites an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in delivering outstanding sales and customer service. You will lead by example to maximise revenue, oversee stock and admin, and ensure promotional and brand standards are met.

You will coordinate scheduling, mentor staff, and execute in-store merchandising while maintaining a strong customer focus and compliance with labour policies.

Qualifications

• Essential: Grade 12 (Maths 50% and English 50%)
• Desirable: Degree in Relevant Retail/Business Management
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in an assistant store management role within a retail/FMCG store operations environment or successful completion the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme
• Financial management experience (budgets, profit and loss statements, financial ratios, etc.)

Responsibilities

• To support the Store Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the store and service excellence by driving sales and building customer loyalty in order to meet sales, profit and compliance targets, leading to a competitive advantage for the brand.
• To maximise sales through promotions, cross-selling, up-selling and ensuring superior customer service across the store team.
• To efficiently execute all operational activities of the store, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage, housekeeping and administration.
• To execute in-store visual merchandising and ensure promotional standards are met.
• To motivate and direct staff to achieve targets and performance goals and to be effectively managed in the absence of the Store Manager.
• To manage daily staff scheduling in line with labour policy to ensure fully staffed departments.
• To implement customer service initiatives that enhance the in-store experience and drive club card participation.
• To attend to administrative responsibilities including weekly time and attendance and employee records submission to HR.
• To uphold the brand values as the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer.
