Job summary

Bidvest Facilities Management in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Artisan Fitter to join our maintenance team. You will assemble, install, maintain and repair machinery, following drawings and specifications to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.

You will read technical drawings, use hand tools and power tools, and collaborate with engineers and apprentices to troubleshoot problems while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in a fitting or mechanical environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Hands-on mechanical problem-solving skills with hands-on applications.
• Proficient use of hand and power tools relevant to fitting and assembly.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and fit components and machinery according to specifications and drawings.
• Conduct regular maintenance and inspections to identify and rectify issues.
• Install and align machinery ensuring proper operation.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
• Train and mentor junior fitters and apprentices as necessary.
