Dikhololo Resort in Brits, South Africa is seeking an Adventure Activities Manager to oversee all adventure programming and the activity team. You will ensure safety standards, develop engaging itineraries, and drive guest satisfaction through quality outdoor experiences.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on management of daily operations, and a passion for hospitality. You will coordinate with resort management to promote activities and deliver exceptional guest experiences year-round.

Qualifications

  • Matric or Grade 12 is compulsory.
  • First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Driver’s Licence required for on-site operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Adventure Activities Department with leadership and financial oversight.
  • Develop and manage daily, seasonal and annual adventure programmes.
  • Lead hiking and outdoor excursions with safety and environmental knowledge.
  • Plan and run activities such as archery, zip-lining and quad biking.
  • Manage bookings, calendars, and promotions for events and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and conduct regular risk assessments.
  • Train staff on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints and feedback professionally.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities to high safety and service standards.

Job description

To provide extraordinary services to our Resort Guests through leisure, recreational and adventure sports activities while taking overall responsibility for the management, development and performance of the Adventure Activities Department. This role involves strategically overseeing all adventure activities, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining the highest safety and service standards, leading and developing the activity team, managing operational and financial performance, and driving the growth and profitability of the department. The Adventure Activities Manager plays a key leadership role in developing innovative adventure programmes, maintaining strong operational standards, promoting the Resort and ensuring consistently high levels of guest satisfaction.

Key Performance Areas:
  • Overall management and leadership of the Adventure Activities Department.
  • Develop, plan and manage daily, seasonal and annual adventure activity programmes.
  • Hiking and guiding, leading groups on outdoor excursions, providing information on flora, fauna, and geography. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, interpreting nature, and enhancing participants' outdoor experience. Strong knowledge of local ecosystems, navigation skills, and first aid are essential. Excellent communication and leadership abilities are crucial for fostering an enjoyable and educational hiking experience.
  • Daily program development, design, plan, and implement adventure sports programs such as archery, paintball, zip-lining, quad biking, and other outdoor activities.
  • Develop and manage a calendar of events, ensuring a diverse and engaging lineup of activities throughout the year.
  • Ensure all adventure sports activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of equipment and facilities.
  • Train Staff on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Manage staff performance, rosters, training and departmental development.
  • Manage departmental budgets, expenses, stock and procurement.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of adventure sports facilities and equipment.
  • Assist in taking equipment and activity bookings.
  • Assist with promotions, functions, and events.
  • To be pro-active and use initiative with customer service and complaints.
  • Ensure prescribed standards are maintained in terms of maintenance, security, marketing, public relations, operations, water safety and hygiene within the prescribed working area
  • Up sell all Resort facilities.
  • Child mind kids - Love for Children - Facilitate and arrange kids and family activities.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Matric or Grade 12 (Compulsory)
  • Child minding experience (Advantage)
  • High energy levels with a genuine passion for adventure, outdoor activities, hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Worked with Quads and Zipline before and understanding the safety requirement involved
  • Natural leader with the ability to inspire, motivate, coach and develop a diverse team.
  • Experience in entertainment in various settings like theme parks, Children’s camps, Hotels and Resorts.
  • Ability to lead games and activities for kids and families.
  • Public speaking
  • Computer literacy and Audio-visual expertise
  • Proficiency in Crisis management
  • Safety and security act (O.H.S.A)
  • First Aid
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
