About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team, operating remotely from Mossel Bay. This role is essential for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all vendor invoices and payments, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting the accounts payable function efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper coding and approvals.
• Prepare and schedule timely payments to vendors via electronic funds transfer, cheques, or other agreed methods.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain the accounts payable ledger and ensure all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
• Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status and resolve issues promptly.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in bookkeeping or accounting is a plus.
• Proven experience (2+ years) in an accounts payable role.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective vendor interaction.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote environment.
