BASIS Charter Schools, a network consistently ranked among the best in the nation for its rigorous academic program, is seeking a highly motivated and engaging Founding Chemistry Teacher to join the inaugural team at BASIS Leander in Leander, Texas.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape the culture, community, and academic success of a new school opening in Fall 2026. We are looking for an exceptional educator who is passionate about their subject matter and committed to inspiring students to achieve beyond expectations.

BASIS Leander will offer the renowned BASIS curriculum, designed to provide a world-class, well-rounded education focused on advanced academics, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity. • Curriculum Delivery: Teach Chemistry courses, which may include Foundations of Chemistry, AP Chemistry, or other specialized science courses, utilizing an engaging, content-rich, and effective instructional approach.
• Student Engagement: Foster a classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the physical and life sciences.
• Assessment and Feedback: Develop and administer robust assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
• Laboratory Instruction: Design and oversee hands‑on, inquiry‑based laboratory experiments and activities that reinforce theoretical concepts and teach proper lab safety and techniques.
• Founding Team Collaboration: Play a pivotal role in establishing the school's culture, contributing to school-wide initiatives, and collaborating with fellow founding teachers to create a cohesive and supportive academic community.
• Professional Development: Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and school-wide meetings, continually seeking to improve instructional practices.
• Student Support: Serve as an advisor or mentor, guiding students in their academic and personal growth within the BASIS model.

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major or significant coursework in Chemistry or a related scientific field (e.g., Biochemistry, Life Sciences). A Master's degree is highly desirable.
• Prior teaching experience in Chemistry at the middle and/or high school level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching advanced placement (AP) or honors‑level courses is a significant asset.
• A profound passion for the subject matter and an ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, compelling, and engaging manner.
• Exceptional classroom management skills and an ability to create an organized, highly focused, and positive learning environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• A collaborative spirit and a commitment to working as part of a dynamic, founding team.
