Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine in Exton, PA invites energetic group fitness instructors to lead engaging classes at Lionville Community YMCA. You’ll create a safe, enthusiastic environment, greet participants, track attendance, and ensure classes start and finish on time.

We value certified group exercise instructors who can adapt to participants’ needs, maintain equipment safety, and participate in ongoing training and events throughout the year.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• At least 1 year of participation in group exercise classes required.
• Possess and maintain at least one current Group Exercise certificate or specialty certificate from a reputable organization.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group exercise classes in a safe, enthusiastic and professional manner.
• Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude.
• Ensure all scheduled classes are held and subs secured.
• Classes start and end on time.
• Greet participants and learn names; take attendance.
• Familiarize with Upace Group Ex technology and sub tracking.
• Check YMCA email and respond promptly.
• Identify participants’ limitations and adapt as needed.
• Utilize equipment safely and promote a healthy lifestyle.
• Attend advanced training and events throughout the year.
• Ensure compliance with YGBW policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous and professional manner.
• Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude.
• All scheduled classes will be held, and sub coverage secured.
• Classes will start and end on time.
• Greet participants and learn their names.
• Take class attendance.
• Familiarize yourself with our Upace Group Ex technology, including sub tracking system, class contact feature, and class cancellation.
• Check and respond in a timely fashion to your YMCA email.
• Identify participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly.
• Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class.
• Promote a healthy lifestyle.
• Attend advanced training workshops offered throughout the year by the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (or another co‑op member YMCA).
• Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.
• Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
