Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine in Exton, PA is seeking an energetic Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging classes in a safe, motivational, and professional manner.

You will greet participants, track attendance, adapt to participants’ limits, and use the Upace Group Ex technology to manage schedules and communications.

This role requires at least one year of group exercise participation and current group exercise or specialty cert; morning and mid-day availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Morning and Mid‑Day Class Availability.
• At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required.
• Possess and maintain at least one current Group Exercise certificate of completion or specialty certificate from a reputable organization for each specialized group modality.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous and professional manner.
• Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude.
• All scheduled classes will be held, and sub coverage secured.
• Classes will start and end on time.
• Greet participants and learn their names.
• Take class attendance.
• Familiarize yourself with our Upace Group Ex technology, which includes but is not limited to sub tracking system, class contact feature, and class cancellation.
• Check and respond in a timely fashion to your YMCA email.
• Identify your participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly.
• Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class.
• Promote a healthy lifestyle.
• Attend advanced training workshops offered throughout the year by the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (or another co‑op member YMCA).
• Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.
• Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
