Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine in Berwyn, PA is seeking a Part Time Group Exercise Instructor to lead classes with energy and a safety-first mindset. You will greet participants, track attendance, and ensure on-time class starts while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Qualifications include 18+ years old, at least 1 year of group exercise participation, and a current Group Exercise certificate; you must obtain all new hire certifications within 90 days of hire and participate in ongoing trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required.
• Possess and maintain a current Group Exercise certificate of completion or specialty certificate.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group exercise classes according to YMCA USA guidelines.
• Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude.
• Classes start and end on time and allow sub coverage when needed.
• Greet participants, learn their names and take class attendance.
• Familiarize yourself with Upace Group Ex technology and tracking features.
• Respond to YMCA email promptly and coordinate with participants.
• Identify participant limitations and provide modifications as needed.
• Safely utilize all equipment and promote a healthy lifestyle.
• Attend advanced trainings and participate in events throughout the year.
• Comply with YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.

What You’ll Do

Conduct group exercise classes according to the guidelines set forth by the YMCA of the USA and the Director of Group Exercise.

• Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude
• All scheduled classes will be held, and sub coverage secured
• Classes will start and end on time
• Greet participants and learn their names
• Take class attendance
• Familiarize yourself with our Upace Group Ex technology which includes but is not limited to sub tracking system, class contact feature, class cancellation
• Check and respond in a timely fashion to your YMCA email
• Identify your participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly
• Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class
• Promote a healthy lifestyle
• Attend advanced training workshops that are offered throughout the year by the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (or another co-op member YMCA)
• Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
