Job summary

The Fort Wayne Zoo is seeking a full-time Security Ranger (Day Shift) to join our team. The role involves perimeter checks, guest safety, and monitoring the zoo grounds, with duties spanning day and night shifts to ensure a secure environment for guests, animals, and property.

Essential tasks include responding to emergencies, patrolling, documenting incidents, and maintaining confidentiality. A fast-paced, safety-focused individual will thrive in this role within our diverse team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of security, guest service, loss prevention, or hospitality experience is required.
• CPR/AED certification is required.
• Critical Action Team certification within defined period from hire date is required (year-round positions).

Responsibilities

• Assist the general public and provide information regarding security and safety issues.
• Monitor for and respond to emergency, safety, or security situations as appropriate.
• Secure all gates, entrances, and buildings with ongoing security checks.
• Patrol parking lots and direct traffic.
• Attend to team members or guests that are injured until medical personnel arrives using established CPR, ERT, and AED Zoo practices.
• Complete incident reports, first aid documents, and any other required paperwork.
• Investigate all accidents with full documentation for crash reports in a timely manner.
