Job summary

San Antonio Zoo is seeking a Part-Time Animal Encounters and Attractions Host (Cashier) to support ticket sales and guest engagement. The role combines cashier responsibilities with ride and attraction supervision to ensure safe and enjoyable guest experiences.

The position emphasizes friendly, efficient service, attention to cash handling, and adherence to safety procedures while interacting with visitors of all ages in a busy park environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Six (6) months in a theme park or hospitality industry is preferred.
• Six (6) months of cash-handling experience in a retail operation is preferred.
• Six (6) months customer services industry is preferred.
• Ability to relate effectively with the public, especially young children and older adults.
• Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

• Operate rides and attractions safely and assist with ticket sales.
• Perform cashier duties with accurate cash handling and card transactions.
• Provide excellent guest service and greeting within 60 seconds of entering your location area.
• Maintain opening and closing cleaning procedures for all rides & encounters.
• Ensure rider safety and compliance with height/age requirements.
• Assist guests with mobility issues getting on/off rides.
• Notate opening/closing pre-operations and safety logs daily.
• Cross-train as cashier and operator for all Revenue Stations.
