Job summary

San Antonio Zoo is seeking an Encounter Interpreter to join our Animal Care team in San Antonio, TX. You will lead conservation-focused encounters at various exhibits and interpretive stations, weaving artifacts, biofacts, and live animals into engaging experiences that inspire guests to protect wildlife.

Responsibilities include delivering interactive encounters, guiding tours, supporting volunteers, and maintaining a welcoming encounter area across varied weather.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to work with the public.
• Previous experience with public speaking required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Comfortable working with a variety of people.

Responsibilities

• Lead conservation-focused encounters at exhibits and stations.
• Deliver interactive experiences incorporating artifacts, biofacts, and animals.
• Guide guests and engage in outreach and special events.
• Maintain cleanliness and aesthetics of the encounter area.
• Support volunteers and staff as needed.
• Uphold Zoo policies and provide excellent guest service.
