Job summary

Hendersonville is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to help enforce the City Code across zoning, nuisance, building and housing regulations. You will inspect sites, interpret ordinances, issue citations, and work with property owners to achieve compliance while supporting the Zoning Administrator.

The role requires an Associate’s degree in a zoning-related field and progressive enforcement experience, with professional certifications encouraged.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in zoning-related field and 1 year of code enforcement experience.
• Three years of code enforcement experience for higher grades is preferred.
• Completion of Planning & Development Regulation course is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and investigate violations of the City Code, including zoning and related provisions.
• Conduct on-site inspections for code compliance and interpret ordinance requirements.
• Prepare reports, issue violations and penalties, and maintain records.
• Interact with the public to explain regulations and assist with permits.
