Job summary

City of Raleigh seeks a Code Compliance Supervisor to lead the Planning and Development Department’s code enforcement efforts. You will supervise inspections, manage investigations, and enforce zoning, signage, subdivision, and landscaping regulations.

Ideal candidates bring extensive code enforcement experience, strong leadership, and excellent communication while coordinating with city leadership and the public. Position involves field and office work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 7–9 years’ experience in code enforcement, trades, building inspection, or related work.
• Equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, manages, and evaluates assigned employees; hires, disciplines, and sets salaries where applicable.
• Coordinates inspections and investigations with staff; provides advanced technical support.
• Responds to citizen complaints about zoning issues and enforcement cases.
• Collaborates with management on inspections, enforcement and related matters; attends meetings to convey zoning information.
• Conducts research and drafts correspondence related to zoning enforcement and inspections.
• Performs enforcement investigations and zoning inspections; removes illegal signage from public rights of way.
