Job summary

The City of Atlanta, GA is seeking an Enforcement Inspector to conduct on-site inspections across the city to ensure compliance with the Atlanta Zoning Ordinance and related codes. The role includes reviewing complex cases, issuing correction notices, and presenting findings at meetings to support safe and compliant neighborhoods.

You will collaborate with other city agencies, prepare court dispositions, and represent the city at public hearings, all while delivering best-in-class customer

Qualifications

• Associate degree in construction, engineering, real estate, construction management, planning, or related field.
• Two to three years as a zoning or code inspector or equivalent professional experience.
• Valid Georgia Driver’s License and the ability to drive regularly.
• Must hold at least one ICC Zoning Inspector or ICC Property Maintenance certification (or obtain within 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections citywide to enforce the Atlanta Zoning Ordinance and related codes.
• Review complex cases and research documentation for legal non-conforming uses and certificates.
• Issue correction notices and court citations for violations and represent the city at meetings.
• Engage in public outreach and provide best-in-class customer service to residents and businesses.
