Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project teams and sites. You will plan, implement, and coach on safety initiatives, conduct hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards.

You’ll develop training content, oversee data on safety metrics, and mentor safety staff while collaborating with trade and joint‑venture partners to drive breakdowns and improvements. Strong leadership and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field.
• OR: High school diploma plus CHST, OSHA 500 and a minimum of 14 years of continuous construction experience.
• At least eight years as a dedicated construction safety professional managing large projects/multi‑project safety programs.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
• Organizational and computer skills to support multiple project teams and leadership impact
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and manage Zero Injury Safety Program elements across the operating group.
• Lead safety program collaboration across multiple organizations, including trade partners and joint‑venture partners.
• Conduct and review site hazard assessments with project management during planning and construction.
• Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training, including train‑the‑trainer sessions and group orientations.
• Oversee project documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety, injury, and hazard statistics, and OSHA reports.
• Monitor onsite construction activities through audits, documenting deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis, coaching safety managers in plan reviews.
• Provide direction and mentorship to Safety staff and host learning sessions.
• Maintain knowledge of safety standards (OSHA, ANSI) and procedures; support leadership in safety metrics and incident response.
