Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project teams and construction sites. The role emphasizes planning, training, audits, and incident analysis to improve safety performance.

The candidate will guide safety staff, collaborate with trade partners, review hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with OSHA/ANSI standards while supporting leadership in achieving safety metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field.
• High school diploma plus CHST and OSHA 500 with 14 years of construction safety leadership.
• Experience on large, complex projects with many subcontractors.
• Experience leading a safety program across multiple projects.
• CSP certification preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership and teaching skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.
• Knowledge of EEO/affirmative action policies.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and manage Zero Injury Safety Program elements across the operating group.
• Lead safety program collaboration with trade partners and joint-venture partners.
• Conduct site hazard assessments with project management during planning and construction.
• Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training and orientation content.
• Oversee documentation, tracking, and OSHA reports; analyze safety metrics.
• Monitor site activities through audits and document deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis; coach safety managers.
• Provide direction and mentorship to Safety staff and develop opportunities.
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA/ANSI standards and procedures.
• Support safety leadership to achieve metrics and incident response.
