Job summary

The State of North Carolina, Department of Health and Human Services, Salisbury VR Unit, is seeking an Administrative Specialist I (S) to provide administrative support and casework assistance to Rehabilitation Counselors serving young adults with disabilities transitioning from school to work in the Statesville area.

The role involves interviewing clients, developing service plans with families, documenting casework, processing invoices, and coordinating with employers to achieve successful

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Flexibility and experience organizing multiple priority assignments in a fast paced setting.
• Experience working with people with disabilities.
• Experience using case management systems, preferably electronic.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients and gather diagnostic reports to assist counselors with determining eligibility and required services.
• Assist with developing written plans of services with the client, parent and/ or guardian.
• Document casework data and the provision of substantial services throughout the rehabilitation process in the case management system.
• Assist in monitoring the client’s progress throughout the service delivery process.
• Process invoices and billing documents, schedule appointments, file, input casework data, and complete correspondence to support client services.
• Work with community employers/partners to place highly qualified clients in appropriate employment.
• Provide other support as designated by Rehabilitation Counselors and complete related administrative tasks.
