Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic performance, attendance, and school behavior. You will plan individualized progress, support teachers with classroom activities, and contribute to school-wide programs that engage students and families.

Program training is provided; you will start in July/August 2025 in participating locations. Eligibility includes U.S. work authorization, age 17–25, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers on group instruction and in-class student support.
• Assist with whole-school initiatives to engage students and families.
