Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a part-time Youth Sports/Activity Coach to plan and run youth activities, interact with members, and promote the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith. You will teach sport-specific drills, guide scrimmages, ensure safety, and maintain equipment and records.

Responsibilities include engaging children and parents, scheduling in evenings and weekends, and participating in staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interact with children and adults.
• Strong communication skills in one-on-one and group settings.
• Flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends.
• Basic knowledge of sports and ability to teach/coach youth.

Responsibilities

• Promote and model YMCA core values and character development in all activities.
• Plan and instruct sport-specific drills to grow participants' skills and teach rules.
• Facilitate informal games and scrimmages; maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
• Maintain program area and equipment; assist with setup and breakdown of activity centers.
• Maintain required program records and engage with members to enhance their experience.
• Engage youth in safe, fun, educational activities and foster teamwork.
• Address concerns from coaches, players, and parents in a calm, professional manner.
