Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA is seeking a part-time Sports Instructor to referee, coach, or supervise diverse sports programs on-site. The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and excellent member service in a busy community recreation setting.

Responsibilities include enforcing YMCA policies, responding to emergencies, completing incident reports, and maintaining equipment. Training and certifications are required, with opportunities for growth through the YMCA's education and campaign initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Referee, coach, and/or supervise various sports programs.
• Enforce and follow Channel Islands YMCA policies and procedures.
• Respond to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies; complete incident reporting.
• Provide inclusive instruction based on best practices.
• Set up and put away equipment before and after sports programs.
• Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with members.
• Participate in required in-service trainings and complete certifications.
• Create a welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all members and guests.
• Work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a staff team.
• Ensure building, grounds, and equipment are in working order; report concerns.
• Maintain certifications and pursue professional growth opportunities.
• Support the annual campaign education of members.
• Understand and act as a mandated reporter of elder and child abuse; respond per policies.
